With over 30 years of experience in facility risk assessment and athletic safety, David Harlowe has become a trusted authority in evaluating sports venues, equipment, and maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards. His expertise spans across high schools, middle schools, universities, and professional athletic facilities, where he conducts comprehensive safety inspections, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations based on ACSM, ADA, ASTM, DHS, NCAA, NFHS, and OSHA guidelines.
David specializes in identifying hazards, ranking risks based on severity, and providing actionable recommendations to mitigate potential liabilities. His work includes assessing athletic fields, gymnasiums, bleachers, press boxes, irrigation systems, weight rooms, and facility infrastructure. He has conducted over 30 inspections on Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, helping administrators address safety concerns and ADA compliance.
Beyond inspections, David is an expert witness in legal cases involving athletic facility safety, negligence claims, and emergency response procedures. He has successfully countered expert testimonies in cases involving swimming pool drownings, gymnastics injuries, step class accidents, and emergency response failures.
David is also the founder of Racing in the Woods, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization that has hosted mountain biking events for over 14 years across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. He manages the US MTB Series, which includes UCI-sanctioned events, junior team competitions, and championship races, drawing hundreds of racers per season.
